Tempō is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you.

Tempō Intelligence — smart note extraction, client intent recognition and Day Debrief — runs on your device using Apple’s Foundation Models. Your client conversations and billing details never reach Merano’s servers and are never used to train anyone’s model. Voice dictation depends on your operating system, and we would rather set it out than let you assume: on iOS 26 speech is converted to text on your device and the audio does not leave it. On earlier versions Tempō requests Apple’s on-device recognition wherever your language has a model for it; where it does not, the audio is processed by Apple’s speech recognition service under their privacy policy.

When you use iCloud sync, your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple's infrastructure. We never access your synced data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than providing the service you've subscribed to.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a Tempō account, we collect:

  • Your email address
  • Your name

Usage Data

We collect anonymized usage data to improve the service, including:

  • App opens and session duration
  • Feature usage (which features you use, not the content within them)
  • All usage data is anonymized and cannot be tied back to your account

Payment Information

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not store credit card numbers, bank account details, or any payment credentials. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status from Apple.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the Tempō service
  • Improve the app based on anonymized usage patterns
  • Communicate with you about your account, including service updates and security notices
  • Prevent fraud and abuse of the service

3. On-Device Processing

Tempō Intelligence features — smart note extraction, client intent recognition and Day Debrief — process data locally on your device using Apple’s Foundation Models. Voice dictation converts speech to text on your device on iOS 26. On earlier versions it requests on-device recognition where your language supports it, and otherwise uses Apple’s speech recognition service — in which case that audio is processed by Apple, not by us and not by any other third party. Everything downstream of the transcript stays on your device.

No voice data, client notes, or AI-generated content is transmitted to Merano’s servers, on any platform. Apart from the speech-to-text step described above, which leaves your device only on older operating systems and only where your language lacks an on-device model, AI processing begins and ends on your own device. Tempō Intelligence currently runs on iPhone and iPad only.

4. Data Storage

On-Device Data

Your time entries, client information, invoices, expenses, and notes are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device unless you enable iCloud sync.

Synced Data

If you enable iCloud sync (available with the Team plan), your data is stored in Apple iCloud. This data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Account Metadata

Account metadata (your email, name, and subscription status) is stored in AWS infrastructure, encrypted at rest using industry-standard encryption.

5. Third-Party Services

Tempō integrates with the following third-party services:

  • Apple — Sign-In with Apple for authentication, iCloud for data sync, and the App Store for subscription management
  • QuickBooks and Xero — Invoice and accounting sync, only when you explicitly connect your account. We access only the data necessary to push invoices.
  • Google Analytics — On this website only, and only if you agree when asked. It sets a cookie holding a randomly generated identifier for your browser, and shares your IP address and basic device and page information with Google, who act as our processor. We use it to see which pages people find useful. It is never loaded unless you accept, and declining is remembered so we do not ask again. Nothing from inside the Tempō app or your account — your time entries, clients, invoices or expenses — is ever sent to Google.

To change your mind, clear this site’s data in your browser and you will be asked again on your next visit.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your data at any time through the app
  • Correct any inaccurate information in your account or records
  • Delete your data and account by contacting us
  • Export your data via CSV from the Reports section of the app

7. Data Retention

Active account data is retained for as long as your account remains active and you continue to use the service.

If you request account deletion, all associated data will be permanently deleted within 30 days of your request. On-device data is removed immediately when you delete the app.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email at the address associated with your account and through an in-app notification. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
